Recent Buy – IPL

A quick update on a a recent purchase in my portfolio to close out the month of August.

I had put in a low-ball offer a few weeks/months ago, which got executed just before the market closed last Friday. In this purchase, I added 100 shares of Inter Pipeline Ltd (IPL.TO) @ $24.00. IPL is a pipeline company that I have been a shareholder in for a long time and continue to build my position over the years. I have doubled my position since the start of 2018 with these purchases. IPL now makes a substantial position in my portfolio and will possibly look at limiting any more build-up since I do not want to own too much portfolio concentration in a single stock. With a current yield of 7%, this purchase adds CAD$168 to my forward dividend income.

A quick update on a purchase in my portfolio earlier this week. As expected, the stock market’s decline had a wide implication on already depressed stock prices where I see good value. I decided to take the opportunity to add more shares to an already decent sized position.

Earlier this week, I decided to add 100 shares in Inter Pipeline Ltd (TSE:IPL) @ CAD$22.70. This purchase price locks in a 7.4% yield adding C$168.00 to my annual passive income stream.

I just listed all my Recent Buy Decision during my last purchase a couple of weeks ago, so I will link to that post instead of rehashing the details.

A quick update on another purchase to wrap up January 2018. This time, its a purchase adding to my dividend growth portfolio after a long time. Its been hard to find value in this market, except in the basic materials sector. However, as I mentioned in the Outlook for 2018 post, I am looking to pull some money off the table as I have overextended in this sector of the economy — with my investment portfolio sitting close to 50% in that one sector. I am still bullish on the sector, but looking to deploy funds elsewhere in the economy, and I have been looking at related commodity plays.

For this purchase, I have looked at the energy sector and decided that I could use with some more exposure and increase my annual dividends from an existing company in my portfolio. Continue reading

Recent Buy – Inter Pipeline Ltd

Inter Pipeline Ltd

As the market continues its relentless climb, I have been weary and finding it harder to find some good investment opportunities. The purchases have all but dried up in my portfolio. However, I was finally able to pull the trigger last week when I saw a pretty good opportunity in the energy sector. Midstream/pipelines were one of the best performers in 2016 and the stock picking competition resulted in Top 3 to be pipelines. However, they seemed to have pulled back a bit this year, and I decided to add to my existing position.

I added 100 shares in Inter Pipeline Ltd (IPL.TO) @ C$26.00. The company pays C$1.62 in dividends annually and currently yields 6.15%.

Inter Pipeline Ltd Dividend Increase

Inter Pipeline Ltd

Inter Pipeline Ltd (IPL.TO) announced a 6.12% increase to its monthly cash dividend from $0.1225 to $0.13 per share. The new dividend will be payable starting December 15th, 2015 to shareholders on record as of November 23, 2015. The annual dividend rate goes up from $1.47 to $1.56. Yield going forward is 6.25%.

“This marks Inter Pipeline’s thirteenth consecutive dividend increase to its shareholders,” said Christian Bayle, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This increase reflects our record financial performance, driven by significant new cash flow contributions from major organic growth projects completed on our Canadian pipeline systems, as well as the continued strong performance and expansion of our bulk liquid storage business in Europe.”

My portfolio consists of 150 shares of Inter Pipeline Ltd, which increases my annual dividends from $220.50 to $234.00, an increase of $13.50.
