3 Recent Buys – FNV, BIPC, ADYYF

BuySell

A quick update on a couple of recent buys in my portfolio.

  • First purchase: Last week, I added to my position in Franco Nevada Corp (FNV.TO) @ $181.00. The recent pullback provides what I believe is a decent place to add in a marketplace where everything else seems overpriced & overextended.
  • Second purchase: This was a swap of my shares in Brookfield Infrastructure Partners. After the recent split between the LP units (BIP/BIP.UN.to) and C-corp (BIPC/BIPC.to), it seems like there is much higher investor appetite for the C-corp shares — likely due to simpler tax filing system for the US investors & fund flows. I decided to sell my BIP.UN.TO shares and buy the BIPC.TO shares instead.
  • Third purchase: I added to my position in Adyen NV (ADDYF) @ $1,190.00. Continuing to build on this position that I recently initiated a couple of weeks ago. See original post on my reasoning for going long Adyen here.

3 Recent Buys – BAM, BIP, EQX

BuySell

A quick update on recent buys in my portfolio. After a lot of sales in March, I have decided to start wading back into the markets as the volatility subsides.

  • First & second purchases: I re-initiated my position in Brookfield Asset Management (BAM.A.TO) @ $45.00 and Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP (BIP.UN.TO) @ $55.00. Split-adjusted, I didn’t really time the market as well as I hoped, and just got them for a few percentage points lower than sale price; but I am starting off with a smaller position than what I had before the selloff. I will be looking to start building this position back up in coming weeks/months.
  • Third purchase: I added to my position in Equinox Gold (EQX.TO) @ $10.00. Equinox should see significant revenue growth in 2020 & 2021 and with it tremendous FCF depending on the spot price. This was an easy decision to add at this price point.

Recent Sell

BuySell

More sales in our portfolio as I try to save our hard earned capital instead of being blasé about it. Whether now is a good time to sell after stocks have fallen more than 20-30% from their all time highs is debatable. But having an anchoring bias to an all-time high prices & valuation is exactly the reason why I see some investors trapped and not accepting the reality.

2 Recent Buys – CSU, BIP

BuySell

A quick update on two purchases in my portfolio from last week. These will probably be the last purchases of the year.

  • First purchase: I added to my position in Constellation Software Inc (CSU.TO) @ $1,229.48. I had already built up a full position, but the recent pullback was too enticing to ignore. I decided to go overweight and add more to my CSU position. This is my fourth iteration of the purchase. See previous purchases here.
  • Second purchase: I added to my position in Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP (BIP.UN.TO) @ $65.40. The announcement to split between LP & C-corp sent the shares soaring over the past few months and the recent pullback finally allowed me to add more to my position. A current yield of just above 4% is a decent price to pay, with a dividend growth announcement of between 5-9% expected in Feb 2020.

3 Recent Buys – BAM, BIP, CU

BuySell

A quick update on three recent purchases in my portfolio. No new companies in the portfolio in this edition, but continued adding to my existing positions where I saw relatively good valuation.

  • First purchase: I added to my position in Brookfield Asset Management (BAM.A.TO) @ CAD$63.70. BAM continues to acquire high quality assets all around the world and is arguably the best alternate asset manager in the world. The stock yields 1.32% and adds US$32.00 in annual dividends.
  • Second purchase: I added to my position in Brookfield Infrastructure Partners LP (BIP.UN.TO) @ CAD$57.10. The stock yields 4.6% and adds US$100.50 in annual dividends.
  • Third purchase: I added to my position in Canadian Utilities (CU.TO) @ $35.95. CU currently yields 4.7% and this purchase adds a further $169.00 in annual dividends.
