Passive Income Update – Dec 2016

Welcome to our monthly passive income update for December 2016. This is part of the scorecard series where we track our dividends and other sources of passive income. We also include changes and updates related to our investments during the month.

Passive Income  Update

Passive income for the month of December 2016 was C$1,112.60. The passive income for the month comprised of US$493.13 and C$451.81 (exchange rate is US$1 = C$1.34).

Passive income change is 68.5% QoQ and 21.6% YoY for the month. The passive income for 2016 ends up at a grand total of $8,782.86, which ends up just short of our annual goal of earning $9K.

As you can imagine, I am very happy to have crossed into the four digits with my passive income for the second time. I was able to generate higher than usual income for the month thanks to some covered calls I wrote on some of my holdings. All the calls I wrote expire in January, so we will have to see if they get called away.

  1. Congrats on a solid showing for the month of December. Though you didn’t quite make your ’16 goal for passive income you still brought in an impressive amount. Your chart continues to show some great progress over the years too. I’m seeing SBUX in a lot of portfolios and wonder when I’ll pull the trigger on that name. Thanks for sharing.     Hey Roadmap that is a great yoy growth and dividend income. It is unbelievable how dividends just continue to grow with no effort. I hit an all time high, but didn’t hit my goal for 2016. Cheers to a great 2017.
